Torrin has been working since he was three years old. Most of his work has been skidding logs and brush in the woods, though he has also been between shafts on occasion and spent a fair amount of time pulling a stone boat or sled with manure or water or firewood. He has also helped me attain my Level 1 certification in Parelli Natural Horsemanship. We are well along with Level 2.
Sue joined us in 2006. She came from Canada where she had some experience working and was a broodmare. Sue has a beautiful face and kind temperament. She passed both on to her son Willowtrail Randver, foaled in 2006. Sue was a great mom. Sue and Torrin teamed to pull a sled in 2007. In January 2008, Sue went on her first packing expedition, helping to move fence material into a Wyoming wilderness area.
Rand takes his name from a hawk in one of the Viking sagas. At the time he was born, we were working in the community of Rand, here in North Park, and we saw hawks and eagles regularly on our way to work. He quickly stole my heart with his friendly personality and willing temperament.
